Women in Chemicals Makes Its Debut in Latin America

At the 44th APLA Annual Latin American Petrochemical Meeting, Women in Chemicals proudly hosted a panel presented by ICIS, marking a significant step forward in our mission to drive change across the global chemical industry.

Our panel, "Women in Chemicals: Navigating Challenges and Creating Change," brought together decision-makers, leaders, and innovators to explore the unique experiences of women working in Latin America. From work-life balance and cultural expectations to tackling wage gaps, leadership representation, and ensuring safety during business travel, our conversation delved into the hurdles women face—and the incredible resilience, creativity, and innovation they bring to the industry.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible speakers: Mayara Cristina Correa from ICIS, Débora Ferraz from Braskem, Sonia Parra from Brenntag, and Andres Botiva from Dow. This event was moderated by the amazing Christie Luna of Women in Chemicals.

Following the panel, we connected further at a vibrant women’s reception, fostering meaningful networking and experience-sharing. This event marks the beginning of an exciting journey for Women in Chemicals in Latin America, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of our community. A special shoutout to everyone who helped make this moment possible, especially our travel sponsor ICIS. Together, we’re paving the way for a more inclusive, diverse, and equitable future in the chemical industry. Let’s keep the momentum going!
